A Graveside Memorial Service for Samuel Woodward will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Holly Cemetery in Holly, Colorado with Pastor Kathy Leathers officiating.
Samuel D. Woodward, known to most as Sam, was born on July 13, 1970 in Ft. Collins, Colorado to Walter and Lyda Mary (Showers) Woodward.
Sam’s family lived in Loveland, Colorado until he was 11 years old when they moved to Holly, Colorado in 1981. In 1984 the family moved again, relocating to Port Orchard, Washington where Sam would finish high school. After graduating from high school Sam worked as a cabinet salesman for several companies including Pay Pack, Ernest, and Eagle.
Sam attended some college but was much to busy with life to proceed with it. During his time traveling as a salesman, he became fond of Sequim as he sold many projects there and often encouraged his father to consider that as a retirement location.
In 1990 Sam began working construction in the Seattle area waiting for an opening with the electrical union apprenticeship program. About a year later he started his electrical apprenticeship and worked as an electrician for several years until he developed fibromyalgia which then prevented him from doing that type of work. After his fibromyalgia subsided, he was able to work again and relocated back to Sequim where he started a landscaping business. Thanks to some very nice people in Sequim, the business was growing, and the future looked bright for Sam.
In December of 2018, Sam found himself in the emergency room because of dizziness and a headache. This is when it was detected that Sam had Glioblastoma and was the beginning of his brave battle against his brain tumor. Sam passed away on September 12, 2019 in Sequim, Washington at the age of 49.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Kayla Woodward; significant other, Rebecca Glantz; father, Walter (Patt) Woodward; sister, Tammy Woodward; brothers, David (Donna) Woodward and Dan Woodward; one niece; one nephew; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Woodward.
